Cardiff West Constituency Surgery moves to Ely & Caerau Hub

Ely and Caerau’s new Hub will open on the Jasmine Centre site this summer. Mark Drakeford AM and Kevin Brennan MP will hold the Cardiff West Constituency Surgery at the Hub every Saturday 10am-1230pm, starting July 5th. Surgeries will no longer be held at Ely Library from this date. The Hub is located in Ely just off Cowbridge Road West by the Fire Station. Other facilities at the Hub will include: Full library service with events and activities for children. IT and self-service facilities including free internet access and telephone. Quiet area for study and use of IT. Housing advice and Benefits advice. Base for Communities First group ACE (Action in Caerau and Ely). Space for the Citizen’s Advice Bureau, Credit Unions and other community groups to offer their services. A café where people can mingle and share ideas informally. Get involved with a film about the Caerau Hill Fort excavation

The Caerau Hill Fort excavation team are looking for local residents to help produce a film about last year’s excavations of the Roman Hill Fort. No previous experience is necessary and the project will involve a series of short editing and production workshops over June alongside Cardiff-based media production company LightTrap. This project will especially be of interest to Friends of CAER volunteers who have participated in CAER project activities, courses & events over the past 3 years. The timetable is tight as the team need to produce these films within the next 6-7 weeks in time for the festival.
