This has been a very important week for people caught up in the infected blood scandal, and I know people in Wales have been badly affected by this terrible chapter. We pay tribute to the work of Julie Morgan, not only for her tireless work as a member of the Senedd, but for the long period where she was a member of Parliament and helped lead the campaign for justice when it didn’t have the same public attention it developed later.
One of the meetings I remember the most from my time as Health Minister was when Julie introduced me to a group of people whose lives were very badly affected by circumstances caused by infected blood. I’m very glad that the Welsh Government has always argued for responsibility to be taken for what happened all those years ago and for its victims be able to properly compensated.
