It was a pleasure to visit Radyr Cricket Club last week, as part of its participation in the Radyr & Morganstown Festival. I was especially pleased to be there with Labour’s fantastic local Councillor Helen Lloyd Jones.
The cricket ground is a tremendous asset and very well maintained by committed volunteers. The expansion of the Club’s activities in women’s cricket and cricket for young people is remarkable. The only organisation to which I have belonged longer than the Labour Party is Glamorgan County Cricket Club, so to see the pipeline of future Welsh talent being nurtured in this way was very heartening.
Congratulations to all those involved in making the festival a success again this year, and all good fortune to those who help to keep cricket at the heart of the community.
